Forest Mulching & Land Clearing:
"Owning a 4 acre parcel of land which is subject to the strict Maui County SMA regulations, we needed a contractor who had specialty equipment and the know how to get the job done while complying with all of the rules and regulations. Also, to be a good neighbor to our bordering residences, we wanted to clear our property of a potential fire hazard, as well as to minimize the possibility of vagrants setting up their camps in isolated areas. Our Board of Directors were very pleased with the initial bid and felt that we could afford to contract for additional work on the initial project. Once we accepted the proposal, Edward and Lisa were very helpful in explaining the work that would be done and the concerns that we needed to be aware of. Property Improvement Services:
"Had a great experience working with Vares Contracting to clear an acre of land in Kihei. As the land manager, I selected Vares Contracting for several reasons: their professionalism came through from the initial call to accepting their proposal. During the work itself, they were in total mastery of what item of equipment and attachment to use during each phase of the clearing. The excavator utilized three different attachments and the skidsteer two--all of this for a two-day project but then, come to think of it, utilizing these devices is why it was a two day job! Beach Restoration/Dune Management:
" I want to close out the year by sharing this success story. It was just about a year ago that DLNR was enforcing removal of unauthorized sandbags at Kahana Village, while myself and county planner Paul Mikolay tried to convince the AOAO board that dune restoration would be a perfect solution to resolve the violation and protect the property. Most of the owners weren’t convinced, but they followed the guidance.
Today, you wouldn’t know that sandbags ever touched the beach. Even better, the managers at Kahana Village are very proud of their work and their beach. So far, the beach and dunes are holding up well with the first winter swells…fingers crossed for the rest of winter.
This as a perfect example of teamwork…DLNR, Maui County, UH Sea Grant, Vares Contracting, and the owners…it took a village to fix the Village!"
